Fall is the time of the year when leaves fall as quickly as your mood changes from upbeat to morose. Cold weather begins to take place and people bring out their dark colored garments to make your mood even more sullen. But this fall has a trend to counterbalance and spice up any everyday or night on the town outfits : SEQUINS !
I recently went all out and bought sequined shorts, leggings, headbands, cardigan and tunic and something tells me that’s not the end of it.
Some advice on how to rock the new trend:
★ make sure to try on the piece with sequins on before you buy it or read the reviews online because sequins tend to itch when worn !! And you don’t wanna be wearing something uncomfortable. Remember, style is before and above all comfort and confidence.
★ don’t over do it, make sure you only have one (or two but make it tiny) piece with sequins. Try not to get away from gold, black or silver because you don’t wanna look like you’re going to a carnival. It’s ok to have a little bit of color however try to keep it for the smaller pieces like a clutch or hair accessory.
Here are some of my favorite pieces, some of which I picked directly out of my closet:
1. Sequin Tap Short (Silence and Noise)
2. Petite Check Sequin Crop Top (TopShop)
3. Sequined Leggings (Express)
4. Bag Embroided with Sequins (Chanel)
Oh and for those of you who are short on cash (times are hard...) but are dying to spruce up your wardrobe with the latest trend, you should check out the $3.99 store in Westwood Village. They have a sequins section that's just waiting to be raided ; )
